First Job at Scaled

Working as a flight test engineer for the VisionAire Vantage project

There have been so many moments in my career at Scaled where I think, "Somebody pinch me. Can this really be my job?" So, it's difficult to choose just one. For instance, I got to fly in Vantage as FTE after only two months at Scaled. I thought I must be in heaven to have gotten that kind of chance fresh out of college.

Peter joined Scaled in 1996 as a Design Engineer on the VisionAire Vantage. He worked extensively as a Flight Test Engineer on multiple programs before becoming a Test Pilot for the company. During his time at Scaled, Peter has held multiple leadership positions within engineering and flight operations. Additionally, he was heavily involved in the development of Scaled’s simulator and avionics capabilities.

In 2008, Peter became the Director of Flight Operations. Peter has flown in 11 different Scaled aircraft and continues to expand his and the company’s capabilities. Peter’s engineering background and focus on the safety of operation, combined with his interest in pushing the boundaries of aerospace, has made him a valued strategic leader in flight operations.

Peter has a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and is an Associate Fellow in the Society of Experimental Test Pilots. He holds a Commercial Pilot License and is a Certified Flight Instructor. In 2004, Peter was part of the test team that won the Iven C. Kincheloe award for SpaceShipOne. He was bestowed the honor again in 2009.
