Scaled was established on the outskirts of civilization so we could have privacy to test our vehicles, the rent was cost-effective, and when you don't have distractions you can stay focused. Not to mention the weather is amenable to year-round testing, a big selling point when your core business involves flight test! The perks of this location is we're centrally located to a variety of activities, perfect for taking advantage of those long-weekends offered by our 9/80 work schedule.

Aerodynamicist

An aerodynamicist at Scaled is typically involved in aircraft design from the conceptual phase onward. Using a combination of empirical methods (hand calcs, drag buildup, tail volume sizing) and computational methods (Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), 2D airfoil codes, etc.), they will work with the other engineering disciplines to develop an aircraft configuration and Outer Mold Line (OML) that meets the needs of the program.
